RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Our varietal heritage consists of over 60 varieties between
over 20 fodder species, grasses and legumes, comes
managed by our research center Natura Srl.

OUR ACTIVITY

The volumes of grass and legumes seeds produced over the years have increased significantly and the company has invested in new selection plants, which are added to the existing ones.

In addition to an increased focus on sustainable agriculture and the organic sector, the company is expanding its range of products with new agricultural seed crops for foreign markets.

THE OBJECTIVES

The activity carried out is the classic one of a plant breeder; genetic improvement, purity of the developed varieties and production of the "core seed" for the subsequent commercial reproduction of the varieties.

Some of the primary objectives of selection in the various fodder species are: productivity, quality of the fodder obtained, resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, maximization of results for annual species and persistence over time for multi-year species, etc.

THE EXPERIMENTATION

To complete this, there is a broad experimentation activity in multiple agro-climatic environments to test and select the best varieties to be launched on the market.

Before the commercial introduction in a new geographical area, each new variety is tested locally in order to verify its adaptability and its performance in the open field.
